Boycrazy

Oh.. I love my boys..sometimes I feel they are forgotten in this crafty world,
Everything it seems is so pretty from fabrics to trims,could things get any prettier?
And while I love making my boys things and indeed my eldest Levi is the craftiest kid I know...
it seems that they are all too often forgotten when it comes to craft projects,fabrics and ideas of creativity

For years people have admired how I dress my little men,different but still masculine and yet when it comes to sales I would sell 5 girly things to 1 boys item,both at markets and online,
Why is it so?
I have been trying recently to incorporate more boys things into my range and as my family are keen sailors,I have started with a nautical viewpoint .....

I am constantly searching for cool fabrics and projects that we can make together
some of the things my boys have loved the most are;

Scientific based craft;
making goo,playdoh,balsa wood sculptures and plaster of paris relief artwork
Sewing of any kind;
making cool pencil cases,clothes for teddies,sock animals and monsters from fabric scraps
art and collages;
cutting up pictures and fabrics to apply to art[they really loved a pirate feast,using food cutouts with illustrations] clay sculptures,and villages from recycled rubbish for figurines
Animation;
As Levi gets older he particulary loves to write and draw comics
[its easy to do a template page for them with boxes and shapes ready for them to fill in]
There are a lot of cool tutorials if you look for them online,
hopefully I have given you a few ideas of what to do with your little man when it comes to crafty coolness
It doesn't have to be about Paper dolls and glittery tiaras!

Knitting,crocheting and french knitting
There is nothing like watching your son french knitting while watching the soccer world cup,and when its done you have a great garland to drape around bunk beds,the christmas tree or coil around in a circle,stitch together and make a giant rainbow cushion for their bed,the possibilities are endless....

So get your boys crafting,think outside the box and help them discover their amazing creativity

New adult sized littlemissdoily dresses

I have been working on some adult sized doily dresses and tops, wearing them myself for a while and I wasn't sure if other people would like to wear them too,
However recently friends have been asking me to make some and I have sold a few,they do take up a lot of linen though!!!!!
And while yellow isn't really my favourite colour,doesn't this one make you smile!
It reminds me of Sunshine,daffodils and spring
And my favourite so far has been my staple pregnancy dress,in fact I am wearing it in the new book Handmade Living....

embroidered sock dolls

Here are some of my sock dolls with hand embroidered faces from my recent markets at hide and seek,
I have such fun making them however it is hard to know when to stop as detail is so important to me but there is a limit as to what you can charge for a doll
I do find once their faces are done they really have their own personality,and I love wondering what little girl will end up loving them one day??????
Here are some great photos of them when they were armless,he,he,he
better than being legless!

scrappy bird mobiles

I have been making these new birdie mobiles with all my favourite scraps of fabric,they are a quick project and look really effective if you hang a few together

My daughter Malia really wanted some birds in her room,she loves the colours,pink,aqua and lilac,so I am trying to make her three co-ordinating ones to hang off her jacaranda beaded lampshade,and I liked this one so much I think I will add them to my range
{much cleaner than real birds]
My nesting phase is taking over.... all the kids stuff as well
It's easy to get caught up in everyday life and forget about the magic,
So I am using this time to re- energize the kids rooms with all the things that I have been wanting to do for ages,
Hand crocheting a blanket for each of them,new quilts for the boys,hanging pictures and re-organizing wardrobes,it's not really for the baby as it will be in our room for a while,although I have been washing and sorting baby clothes like crazy
My next project is to get the photo albums sorted before I add another babe to the mix...
Happy days..just wish I were more agile and less tired,very frustrating,
My munchkins are very excited and being very helpful,often making  little presents for the new baby[so sweet] and Levi is acting as my walking stick when my sciatic nerve gives me grief,although he does find it very funny that mummy can't walk well sometimes!!!!!!oh well,five weeks to go!!!!

And lastly,very sadly we have to say goodbye to our very dear friend,
our beloved boat "LIBRA",my namesake,
sadly broke away from her mooring in a huge storm last week and ended up on the beach,while she looks fine here,she was actually ruined and will sail no more due to too much damage..
R.I.P beautiful lady and thankyou for all the wonderful memories...
