guerilla art for crafters

one of my favourite blogs,Chez Beeper Bebe

A Little Color: Guerilla Art

Phone Booth ala Afghan: by Knit the City
The world needs more guerilla art, don't you think?  It just makes me happy when I think about coming across any of these little numbers.  I think I may need to start a guerilla art movement of my own some day because you should be the change you want to see in the world and all that.   Whatever the case, enjoy the color of street rebellion...
Lego Stone-Wall Filler: by Jan Vormann
Raining Color: via Street Art Utopia
Yarn Pot Hole Filler: by Juliana Santacruz Herrera
Fallen Trees as Colored Pencils: via Street Art Utopia

my favourite is the wool in the road cracks,
makes me think about doing some of my own guerrilla art in my area...
there are some very boring power boxes that could do with a paint job?????mermaids and toadstools perhaps???

dancing dolls

My number 2 is an excellent dancer, recently she has been involved in her school representative dance group,
and a few of the mothers and I had to help out with some costuming
{I secretly love jobs like this]
We had to construct life sized dolls and strollers,
and I think they turned out well
[except that they freaked me out sitting on the couch late at night!!]a little too real!!!!!
kind of remind me of raggedy anne and andy, don't you think?

the inspirational doily...

Fantastic Doily covered tree from meetmeatmikes
While I work my way through the school holidays trying to keep all my critters amused,
we have all our craft equipment spread from one room to the next.......
and when I do get a breather, there is nothing better than trawling through my favourite blogs and websites,
searching my old faithful 'doily 'search
and I am constantly amazed by how the humble doily continues to inspire..
check some of these out...

I found a really great tutorial on craftzine
showing you how to transform one of these bowls into the ultimate bowerbird easter basket,
perfect for your easter treasures
and really simple to make too!
How-To: Vintage Doily Easter Basket @Craftzine.com blog

And finally check out these amazing lamp shades made entirely of vintage doilies ....
ahhh,heaven

holidays and fairy gardens

A much needed holiday to Byron Bay was just what we needed,
We spent the week swimming and building fairy gardens along the beach and in the rockpools,
I haven't enjoyed such a relaxed week for ages,
Sadly the news of japan came through while we were away bringing us crashing back to reality,
live every day as if it is your last....
The japanese are survivors,we will be right there beside them...
Holiday over,I can't wait to start making some winter goodies.....

mushrooms on the mind

I cannot get mushrooms out of my head,
Fairy ones that is!
I found a fantastic supplier of handpainted mushroom stakes
available at the markets around byron bay,
I ordered a mix of colours and styles but nothing beats the red and white spot,
problem is every child that comes to our house ends up leaving with a mushroom
[ and starting a fairy garden]
I'm thinking of doing a whole range around the humble mushroom this winter,
maybe I will finally bite the bullet and try out my untouched gocco printer that I was lucky enough to find on ebay.
Perhaps a toadstool house printed as a patch pocket on some gypsy pants and pinafores!
Look at this cute vintage pinafore, with the owl placed just so...
